The FitzGeralds first settled here in the 1200’s at nearby Shanid Castle following the Norman invasion of Ireland. I ate at a place called Taste that was recommended to me, but don't get the vegetable curry, it was not so good. Hotel was excellent.The owner of hotel was so welcoming and friendly.

Glin Castle Glin, Co. There was a very friendly atmosphere as soon as we entered the house. We rang the bell and were quickly met by the charming owner, Estelle, who showed us our room, gave us a quick tour of…, We stayed at Magpie's last night in the double. The property was beautiful very friendly lady Linda looked after us everything was perfect it was very clean and everything to hand and very peaceful just what we needed breakfast was lovely and fresh and even got fresh eggs to go will definitely return soon thanks Dan and Trena. Breakfast was a real treat and our diet requirements were catered. We saw only a little bit of the village but it has some good scenic walks and its location on the estuary is nice; very handy for the ferry a couple of miles further on. After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. The hostess was very friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. Had no, option but to sleep in tent.
